In the fast-paced and unpredictable school day, even the most effective teachers struggle to provide the ideal amount of timely descriptive feedback to their students. At the same time, parents desire to be more regularly involved in their child’s progress and learning. iCanProgress has been specifically designed to strengthen communication between teachers, students and parents regarding student progress.

iCanProgress uses iPads to their full potential in the classroom, driving authentic assessment by making student learning visible. Through push notifications on a phone or tablet, parents can receive instant descriptive feedback from teachers through the sharing of media and pedagogical documentation. They can receive a video clip of their child demonstrating math problem-solving skills. They can witness the creative writing process from brainstorming to polished work. Students find new, personalized venues into learning, and become more critical and self-reflective thinkers.

iCanProgress assists teachers with pedagogical documentation, as well as creating customizable checklists and rubrics. By the end of each Reporting Period, teachers will be able to cross-reference all evidence of student learning, making the Report Card writing process more efficient and authentic.

Authentic Assessment

In the 21st century classroom, it is critical that students become active participants in their own learning through real-life contexts. Authentic assessment means making student learning “visible” within these contexts. iCanProgress assists with pedagogical documentation of individual student progress through the ability to capture teachable moments via pictures, footage and anecdotal notes.

This data will support teachers in providing timely descriptive feedback to students and parents, bridging the gap between school and home, while making meaningful communication a user-friendly reality. Learners find new, personalized venues into learning, and become more critical and self-reflective thinkers.

Customizable Rubrics & Checklists

The Rubric and Checklist Creators allow teachers to effectively target Knowledge, Thinking/Inquiry, Communication and Application in their assessment (for, as, and of learning). Teachers will be able to cross-reference all evidence of student learning at the end of each reporting period, making the Report Card writing process less tedious and more efficient. All student data, from formative tasks to summative assessments, will be organized and stored in one place (less photocopying, less binders, no more assignments lost).

Alignment with Ontario Curriculum

iCanProgress was developed by Ontario teachers who understand the importance of planning with Curriculum Expectations explicitly in mind. We are proud to include the Ontario Curriculum Expectations for each subject within the app's Learning Activity Creator.

The Ontario Curriculum Expectations are a complimentary 'add-on' to the iCanProgress App for Ontario schools. Schools may request to have this 'add-on' removed from the app at any time.
